Probably my last visit with the dome hide on a night with very mixed weather. Heavy rain showers and finally some sunshine which eventually brought the owls out. The two owlets were so tender with each other and some play as well!!

A late afternoon (4.30 - 6.30) visit to the nest site using my dome hide. Carefully set up when Owls were not present and didn't get too close (still had to use 500mm plus 2x TC to get some detail although this meant F8 largest aperture and a slower than preferred shutter. ISO was raised to 800-1250 at times. The sun came out and one owlet in particular used its wings as a parasol. An adult also turned up and sunbathed on a wall to the side of the hide.

Had an hour camouflaged up leant against a wall circa 40m from the nest site. used the 500 with 2 x TC and waited for the Owlets to appear, which thankfully they did for 20 minutes. So cute, beautiful little fluff balls. I feel responsible for these birds now so keeping a close eye on them. They can fly but not full wing structure yet.

This time close to the nest site with an adult sat on a stone fence post. Images from car again with the 1000mm combo. Final shot is from behind a dry stone wall, fully camouflaged up, of one of the two owlets. Believe the nest is in a wall or burrow below a large Oak tree.
