A 4.30am start from Sheffield to spend a couple of hours at the reserve before work at the Boston office. Bonus was what the reserve warden said was the first Black-necked Grebe seen for a while and a lone Hobby. BNG was distant so only record shots.

BLACK-NECKED GREBE
15-04-2017 - RSPB St Aidans (Swillington)
Following the arrival of a bird at Orgreave Lakes we decided to go to the new visitors centre at St Aidans to have a walk around the reserve. I didn't realise this was really an extension of Swillington Ings. We saw at least 5 BNG and three birds were really obliging.
